Appalachia Service Project
Four summers now, I’ve gone to Appalachia to make homes warmer, safer, and drier for families who don’t have the means to do it themselves — 150 hours of work so far. I’ve learned to drywall, lay new flooring, replace the rebar in a failing foundation. But most of what stays with me are the homeowners — the time spent hearing their stories while the work got done.
Loaves & Fishes, Trenton Area Soup Kitchen
For nine years, I’ve volunteered with my church’s Loaves and Fishes program, serving hot meals to people facing food insecurity in Trenton. At Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, I've plated meals, run them out to tables, and packed toiletry bags for people to take with them.
